Santiago Velez
Santiago Velez is a Technical Principal Engineering Science at the Engineering Science specialist team in London. He leads the development of digital tools aimed at achieving Net Zero for the built environment. With over a decade of experience in the sector, Santiago has managed the building physics aspect of numerous design projects both in the UK and internationally. He focuses on developing digital tools that integrate data-driven methods with first-principle building physics to quickly assess and deliver net zero pathways for asset portfolios, including net zero and overheating risk assessment tools for assessing schools design, and tools used to deliver decarbonisation of heat plans across the UK. Since 2013, Santiago has also been involved in academia, initially as an associate lecturer at the University of Buenos Aires, where he taught modules on Building Performance and Sustainability in the Building Information Modelling master's course. More recently, he was appointed as an Environmental Design tutor for the UCL Bartlett Integrated MEng Architecture and Engineering course.
